Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor
Rick counsels out of the Jefferson City office and has spent 27 years as a bi-vocational pastor. He retired from ministry in April of 2020 to finish his counseling education and holds Bachelor’s degrees in Theology and Psychology along with a Master’s in Counseling from Lincoln University. He is also a Certified Telehealth provider.
Rick has experience as a volunteer counselor at the Pregnancy Help Center in Jefferson City and as a counselor for the Missouri National Guard Headquarters. Additionally, he was a grief group therapist for Capital Region Medical Center’s mental wellness clinic in Jefferson City. In addition to his work at True Vine, He is also an outpatient therapist provider for Burrell Behavioral Health in Columbia MO.
Rick works with all ages and specializes in grief, trauma, loss, depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, anger, self-esteem, families, and marriage.
He especially enjoys incorporating the principles of God’s Word into counseling sessions. He values the effectiveness of the truth of scripture combined with the revealed knowledge of psychology God has given us. Rick loves to see the hope that rises in the eyes of his clients as they realize God is very actively working in their lives to bring peace and stability to their troubled minds and hearts.
Rick has been married to Cindy for 31 years and they are in the process of adopting a little boy.
Rick is under the supervision of Dr. James Smith- Mo License #2010007557
